Cold Cathode is a more durable lighting system with high brilliance, lower
maintenance
and can be formed in to any shape and designs. The key distinction is that
cathodes
are not pre-warmed or hot, but are cold. The greatest advantage of this
lighting is the
elimination of dark ends
such as that of
flourencent lamps. Each lamp
can be installed
end to end to appear
continuos without joints.
Transformers are available
today that
can operate up to 30meters of cold cathode lamps (25mm diameter) without
flickering.
Lumen output from cathodes is about 700 to 900 lumens per foot depending
on transformer
used.
